Shopping For A Great Car Deal

Everyone loves a bargain, whether scrabbling about in Tescos or buying a new car. Hopefully you will have time to compare prices, mileage and overall value for money and not pick up the first thing you see cos your previous car went bang unexpectedly.

Personally, I like to look at a variety of places - ebay, autotrader, desperate seller and various local websites - stick i.e. Freelander, Plymouth in Google (UK only search) and see what comes up.

Have a look at some reviews for the sort or car you're interested in and see how they stack up against one another. Sticking with the Freelander example, independent reviews are easily found, such as this Freelander one from channel 4. Another important concern is safety, the wonders of the internet are of help here too, Euro NCAP reviews are available online for most makes and models, such as this Freelander report.

There are some good buys out there, I bought my car from ebay 3 years ago for £500 less than the going rate - with FSH, low mileage, dvd player and 12 cd changer and not had any trouble with it at all. Of course, buyer beware applies especially to cars, try and take someone with you that knows what they're looking at, don't meet in a car park and be especially suspicious if its advertised as a private sale and then they ask which car you're interested in.

Always remember the golden rule for buying anything, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
