Richard Branson Invests in Tumblr

From The Drum:

" Serial entrepreneur Richard Branson has put his backing behind nascent blogging service Tumblr, contributing to an $85m investment which values the service at $800m."
This business start up investment from Branson and a number of other investorshas arisen because they believe that Tumblr has the potential to rival Facebook and Twitter. Page views on the site have increased this year from 2 billion to 13 billion.

John Maloney, president of Tumblr, want to make the site profitable, but in a way that will work with the current blog setup. It remains to be seen what impact the new investments will make, but I think we can expect to see fireworks from the Tumblr community, whatever happens.
